prayer request

well, our much anticipated winter weather apparantly took a detour, because it never showed up here. just some rain, followed by more cold. oh, well.

we had some good news last week. our friends josh and aimee had their new baby, bennett. we went to see them last weekend. he's cute, but he doesn't do much.

now for the not-so-good news. michael has been in the hospital since the sunday after christmas. he started off just not feeling good christmas day, so he didn't get to come over to see rebekah, which he really wanted to do. by sunday, he felt bad enough that mama took him to this after-hours care office, where he passed out. they sent him to the emergency room, and from there he was helicoptered to the hospital in augusta. his blood pressure was really low (like 70/35 or something) and they said it was because of some internal bleeding, but they couldn't explain the bleeding. he's been moved to a private hospital, which is where he is now. they think he had the flu, and possibly a heart attack, and maybe a relapse of tuberculosis. he's having trouble still with his blood pressure, heartbeat, kidneys, and his breathing. sometimes its better, sometimes not. we stayed up there with mama last night. they called yesterday around noon and told her that the next 24 hours would be critical. he made it through that period, and was in better shape when we left than when we got there, but he's far from being out of the woods. he just started opening his eyes, but he still doesn't respond to anything. anyway, please put him in your prayers. mama too, please. after just losing her father in october, this is extra hard on her. she's turning out to be stronger than we all thought, but its just a lot for her to deal with.

other than that, not much going on here. we're making our plans for the aubry invasion coming in march. should be fun!

take care and god bless

winter wonderland

reports are that we might get some real winter precipitation of some sort tonight. i think it'll just be rain, but they've already closed about 4 or 5 school systems around here. its possible though, since its barely gotten above freezing all week. we even wound up with a busted pipe, which caused the well to get pretty low and pull some kind of junk into the filter. this caused us to go two days without water, since i didn't know what the problem was. i just thought there was still a frozen pipe somewhere. anyway, its fixed now, and we're VERY glad.
i had to do my 18-mile run wednesday in 24 degree weather. NO FUN!!! i actually started out overdressed. the route i ran was a 6-mile loop that i run from work, and i ran it three times. after the first lap, i had to get rid of a sweatshirt and one pair of gloves because i was sweating so much. i've been noticing that the longer my runs get, the slower my times get-like way too much slower. hopefully, some of that is the cold. i was really thinking i could knock a good bit off my previous marathon time, but at this rate, i might even run slower. i'll find out in a month, i guess.
wish us all luck with our snow or ice or whatever we get.

bye,bye, bobby

we spent our new year's in jacksonville. we went to the gator bowl to see bobby bowden's last game. very sad. there was a new year's party the night before for the booster club at river city brewery. it was pretty cool if you're into big parties like that. i'm not, but it was still fun. they had some old coaches there speaking and part of the band and cheerleading squad. we were able to entertain ourselves by watching this group on the dance floor. it was two guys and two girls. it was hard to tell if they knew each other or not, and who was actually hooking up with who. not sure, but there may have been alcohol involved.
we didn't actually make it to midnight. i think we left about quarter 'til. too bad, probably, because i think they shot fireworks over the river, which was probably very pretty, if not environmentally friendly.
we went back the next day because they allowed parking for the game and access to an express water taxi which took us to the stadium. it probably would have been cooler if it wasn't 50 degrees and raining. fortunately, the rain had mostly stopped by kickoff. didn't get much warmer, but the sun did come out in the second half.
the game itself was good. started out a little slow, but they picked it up in the second quarter and sent bobby out on a good note. it would have been nice if we could have heard all of his postgame interview, but there were some problems with the cbs mikes. i would have thought that for something like that, they would have made sure that everything was working properly. oh, well.
it's fun to get away like that, but we're glad to be back home. we kinda missed the little one. she stayed with granny & poppy watson, so she may not have missed us as much.
jolynn & rebekah have one more day of vacation before it's back to the real world of school and work. for me, every day is like a vacation, so i won't have to adjust.
happy new year!
